Michel Pellerin is professor of surgery at the Université de Montréal, where he also serves as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at the Montreal Heart Institute. He was Head of the Department Surgery from 2004 to 2012
Dr Pellerin graduated in medicine at University Laval in 1985, then in General Surgery in 1990. He subspecialized in Cardiovascular surgery at the University of Montreal in 1993. He has completed a Master in Science in surgical biology and artificial organs at the University of Paris VI under the leadership of Pr Alain F Carpentier MD PhD as a scholar of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Dr Pellerin has authored and co-authored more than 150 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed publications.
He has also written several book chapters and multimedia surgical videos.
Dr Pellerin is a frequently invited lecturer and his most recent topics of discussion are: mitral valve repair, surgical technology, long term outcomes after valve surgery, minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery.
